What are the small details in export trade?

The export trade process is highly complex and changeable. To avoid some unexpected incidents, it is necessary to know some foreign trade common sense in advance. Here are two pieces of common sense.

1. What should be noted when receiving the SO after booking?

1. Warehouse opening time: No separate container rental fee will be charged when picking up the goods later.

2. Container deadline: Return the container to the terminal before this time.

3. Customs declaration deadline: The customs declaration deadline. If the customs declaration materials have not been filled in before the deadline, declare customs as soon as possible.

4. Release deadline: If you transport the goods to the terminal before this time, you can load the container as scheduled.

5. Deadline for materials + VGM time: At this time, submit the bill of lading draft + VGM information to the shipping company to issue the bill of lading and report the weight.

Note:

1. You can combine the above times to get the best container loading time. For European and American routes, since AMS or EMS needs to be declared, the deadline for submitting the bill of lading draft is earlier than the customs closing time. Therefore, the container loading should be arranged before the deadline for submitting the bill of lading draft.

2. VGM is the requirement of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to implement the "International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea" (SOLAS Convention) on the verification of the weight of export containers (VGM) from July 1, 2016. VGM weight = gross weight of goods + container weight.

3. The consignee information on the current consignment note in the customs declaration form must be consistent with the consignee information on the bill of lading, and the local company registration number of the consignee should be provided. For the data, we must ask the customer to provide this information as soon as possible.

2. Even if the goods in the container are normal after being inspected by the customs, when encountering a customs inspection, it may still seem intimidating. Therefore, you are likely to miss the first available vessel.

In large ports like Shanghai, at least 2 days should be reserved for customs declaration. Because the current manual inspection process is: submit the original customs declaration materials to the customs, and the General Administration of Customs issues inspection instructions to the terminal. Then there is a container number on the customs list. Inspect the container, and it is still a fully enclosed inspection. Only the customs staff is inside. If there is a problem, the customs declarer waiting outside will be summoned. Years ago, the customs declarer could be beside. Now everything is systematic and transparent.

So what can we do?

1. Before preloading the container, don't take risks and rush to ship the goods to catch the shipping schedule. You have enough time to check.

2. Declare in a regularized manner and report truthfully. Don't have the fluke mentality of hiding or misreporting, so that you won't be afraid of container inspections.

3. Once a container inspection occurs, immediately contact the freight forwarder to apply for an extension of the release time, and try to delay it to the latest time. In this way, even if there is a container inspection, we still have a chance to catch this vessel.
