There is no fixed standard for the percentage charged by export agents, typically ranging between 1%-5%. This mainly depends on the following factors: first, the value of the goods—higher-value goods may attract a relatively lower percentage, such as 1%-2% for high-value electronics; second, the complexity of the business—products requiring special permits or certifications may incur higher fees, possibly 3%-5%; third, the export destination—remote or trade-policy-complex regions may also command higher fees. Additionally, long-term clients with large business volumes often receive discounts. For example, at Zhongshitong, for standard products with stable cooperation, fees might be kept at 1.5%-2.5%.
When selecting an agent, don’t just focus on the fee percentage—also consider service quality and reputation.

It seems possible to negotiate discounts with agents. For large volumes, you might even get down to 1%. Seasonal product exports might also qualify for reduced fees.

I’ve heard some agents use tiered pricing based on order value—for example, 3% for under 1 million, 2% for 1-3 million, and 1.5% for over 3 million.
